Film-Based Imaging

Remains the only choice for a future-proof storage solution for long-term protection and preservation of documents. These documents are not just the single domain of Government, but now the mission critical documents that are associated to business decisions within the Corporate world.. Since Sarbane Oxley Act and the Australian Corporations Act has increased the obligations and responsibilities onto the Directors to ensure that these documents are protected and preserved.

As most have relied heavily on a technological solution, but have found that there is no long-term solution that guarantees access or readability of these electronic documents in 10-50 years. With some of these documents having a disposal authority of permanent (never to be disposed of/deleted/erased). This in itself has caused a major rethink within the IT for backup/recovery structures and high-availability storage systems.  But the issue still remains of what application will enable me to read that document in 10-20 years time, not just access it but view, read, and print it as an original.

Since the 1970s we have totally changed the way we access, read, create, print, copy and store documents with numerous versions and updates of applications and all different types and makes of hardware.

The interesting observation during that period, is the one constant is the ability to view, read, and print a document from microfilm. As it is the only medium that is totally independent of any technology. A simple light source and a magnifying glasss will result in a person being able to read the original document. This is the same for the microfilm that was produced nearly 100 years ago and the new styles of medium for film has resulted in a life expectancy of 500+ years.

With technology we achieve the ability to share information worldwide and with film we achieve the long term protection and preservation of the information. Remember the information within your organisation is your most valuable asset and needs to be protected and preserved.

We, at Gosford Micrographics, are proud to be able to offer this Film-based Imaging service to our clients ensuring that they can enjoy the benefits of both for ease of access and long term protection. FBI must be part of anyone's disaster recovery plan, because without it we are totally reliant on technology.
