This is the October issue of ‘Under the Microscope’; we have cancelled the Road-Show, The Challenge, Micrographic Support, Australia’s Most Wanted, Toner direct, and winners of the September Trivia Quiz. So, please read on and enjoy!

Micrographic Road-show

Has been cancelled until the technology suits the Library Environment.  We are developing a review document of all the current product offerings that use the live-video stream technology for view/scanning microfilm.  Watch this space.

The Challenge

Movie Gift CardGosford Micrographics are offering a $50 MOVIE Gift Card to the person, in each State/Territory, with the oldest microfilm/fiche reader-printer.  You must submit contact details to verify of its existence.

We have had a couple submissions, but none from libraries:

Winners of September 2007 Trivia

In the Harry Potter series what or who is the Deathly Hallows and how did it help Harry?Lindt Chocolates

Answer: This must have more difficult than I thought or everyone has had enough of Harry Potter.   The Deathly Hallows are an Invisibility Cape that is impervious to any spell, Stone of resurrection and the Elder Wand that must be taken from the owner to become its master.  Harry utilised the resurrection stone to bring back his parents, Serius Black and Lupin and they protected Harry as he walked through the Forbidden Forest from the Dementors to meet Lord Voldermort.  The Elder Wand’s new master was Harry Potter after he had disarmed Draco Malfo. Lord Voldemort tried to use a killing Curse on Harry using the Elder Wand and it back-fired as Harry is the new master and it killed Lord Voldemort.
