This month in ‘On the Horizon, this is the last one for 2006, we have an offer to improve efficiency, new Support service, Kodak advantage, winners of the October Trivia Quiz, and a survey. So, please read on and enjoy!

Plan & Drawing Scanning
Most Councils have purchased or are in the process of purchasing a wide format scanner to support the new electronic environment.  These wide format scanners are generally utilised for A2-A0 drawings and plans. They are heralded as fast and efficient from the vendors and IT people.  However, they all supply a standard scanning software that requires a lot of effort on the operator's part to achieve the final result by utilising anywhere up to 3 different software packages.

There is a solution that operates with all current 4th generation large-format scanners eg Contex and Scanners with Twain drivers. The software does it all in one application eg multi-page TIF, full-screen pre-scan, PDF conversion, realignment. The products is IDEAL ScanOS.  We utilise ScanOS in our bureau environment and it is very easy to use and very reliable.

A little bit of Shakespeare

In Twelfth Night, Lady Olivia's Uncle Sir Toby had a plan, what was it?  Who did Lady Olivia marry?

Answer: Sir Toby's plan was to manipulate Sir Andrew Aguecheek into marrying Olivia so Sir Toby can benefit from Sir Andrew's great wealth. Lady Olivia married Sebastian (though she first thought it was Cesario - who was really Viola).

There was one winner of a box of Lindt chocolates: Robyn of Springwood, NSW
